Quinn Edie Martin has arrived!

I really should update more often, especially seeing that our baby girl will be one month old next week!!  Time really is flying by, and even though the sleepless nights and sometimes fussy hours have been difficult, I don't want to wish the time away.

Here's Quinn's birth story:
I woke up at 2:30 am Sunday, July 27th with contractions.  I figured it was the real thing since I hadn't felt any contractions up until that point in the pregnancy.  I labored at home until about 7:00 am when my contractions were about 4 1/2- 5 minutes apart and were lasting between 45 and 60 seconds.  (Rob was an awesome coach during the whole process!)

We packed up our stuff and drove to Greenville Memorial.  Of course when I laid down on the bed in the triage room my contractions slowed down and weren't as intense.  My doctor checked me and said I was only 2 cm!  Thankfully she didn't send us home but told us to walk around the hospital for at least an hour.  Well, that definitely brought the intensity and frequency back!  When Rob and I got back to the triage room, my doctor checked me again and I was only 3 cm dilated and 90 % effaced...needless to say I was disheartened since I thought surely I was dilated more than that.  She went ahead and admitted me to labor and delivery and I received an epidural at about 11:00.
I progressed to 8 cm by about 3:30 pm.  This time when my doctor checked me, she said, "Uh oh, that doesn't feel right."  Um, not what you want to hear!  She realized that Quinn was breech, so proceeded to tell me that I'd be having a c-section.  At the time I was just glad that we'd be meeting our daughter very soon.
Quinn Edie Martin was born at 4:15 pm, weighing 7 pounds, 13 ounces and 19 3/4 inches long.  "Quinn" is from my grandmother's maiden name (My dad's mom, Granny), and "Edie" is from Rob's grandmother's nickname in high school (his dad's mom).  We are in love and thank God for this beautiful gift!

Quinn's nursery

We're less than one week away from Quinn's due date so I thought I'd share some pictures of her nursery, which is ready and waiting for her!  I always have fun decorating the house, even if it means rearranging a few things, but this has been especially fun!  Summer has been a great time to work on a few little projects for the room, and I also have some very talented friends who have made special things for Quinn's room.

The glider was one of the first things we bought for the nursery- a Craigslist find!  Rob and I both agreed we wanted to try to keep the nursery neutral so that we could use it again without repainting so we decided on yellow and mint green...well, I decided and Rob was fine with it. ;)

The silver rattle was Quinn's Nona's when she was a baby (Rob's mom).
Needless to say, Quinn has already been given plenty of bows and headbands!

I love children's books- can't wait to read to Quinn!  She was also given several sweet handmade burp cloths, this one from Rebekah.

Let's just say, I never thought I'd get into the whole "girly girl" thing, but the necklaces, bracelets, & bows are just too cute!

My big project for the nursery was making these Peter Rabbit pallet paintings.  I got the idea from Etsy, traced print-outs onto the pallet wood, and painted in the lines.  It was pretty time consuming so I won't be doing this again anytime soon.

The bumper pads, crib skirt, and quilt were made by Mrs. Fowler, a kind friend from school.  She is the same one who altered my wedding dress.  Rachel Wetzel made the pink and green elephant, and you can check out her etsy shop if you're interested in something similar- it also goes to helping them adopt!

My sister-in-law, Heather, made this cute banner!  We can't wait to meet our little girl and to introduce her to her wonderful family and friends!

Ruth Anne & Philip's Wedding weekend

My younger sister, Ruth Anne got married on June 28th, and it was so much fun to be in York the week of the wedding and to celebrate with Ruth Anne & Philip on Saturday!

My mom and sisters and I were able to get pedicures and manicures then we met up with our sisters-in-law, Heather & Lindsey, for supper and girl time.

Preparations at the church- my sweet mom and dad worked tirelessly, in the yard, at the church to make sure Ruth Anne & Philip had a special day.

The rehearsal dinner was at The Dairy Barn in Fort Mill.  It was a beautiful venue and the entertainment was great!  Philip's cousins have a tradition of writing their own lyrics to "Going to the Chapel" based on whoever is getting married- very creative, although I think poor Ruth Anne & Philip felt roasted after the night was over.  We really do love y'all!!

Saturday morning, my Aunt Cathy and cousin Margaret had a special bridal breakfast for Ruth Anne.  Ruth Anne made us all cry by telling each of us how we'd influenced her and we had a sweet time of prayer for her and Philip.

Sadly, this is the only picture I have of the bride and groom...I snuck a peak at their "First Look".  Ruth Anne was a beautiful bride and Philip was such a sweet groom.  I wish I had more pictures, but of course things got really busy after this.  Ruth Anne and Philip, we're so thankful that God brought y'all together and for his faithfulness to y'all!
